The
Collins's have provided Funfairs, in support of numerous events throughout
the Northwest.Probably the most well known being Knutsford's "Royal" Mayday fair.Knutsford Royal Mayday is Cheshire's largest funfair and one of the biggest in the country. There have been Mayday celebrations in Knutsford since 1864. In 1887, the then Prince and Princess of Wales bestowed the "Royal" title.The focal point's for Knutsford's celebrations are the procession through the streets, the crowning of the May Queen and dancing round the Maypole. John Collins's family have been connected with the running of this funfair since 1913.
In 1930's there were about 8 rides present, including the families "Dragon" Scenic, Lakin-Waltzer, "Grand National Steeple Chaser's" , Swirland Motorcycle Speedway.
From, these modest beginnings this has know truly become the Northwest's premier fair with some of the UK's top travelling attractions attending. Including the Magic Mouse spinning coaster.In 2004 the star attraction was the Giant Wheel standing at 100 foot tall and providing an aerial view of all the festivities on the Heath and the streets of Knutsford. What better place to watch the Colourful and rousing firework display that John Collins provides as part of the weekends festivities.
August sees visitors flooding into Liverpool, for the annual Beatles week and Matthew Streets Festival.
The
Matthew Street festival is now in its 13th year saw some 200 bands perform
on various stages and venues, in the city center.
The theme to 2004's event was the A-Z of pop, with tribute bands ranging
from Abbasolutley Live (ABBA) to Vogue (Madonna) along with many Beatles
tribute bands, with plans set to bring in headline acts in the run up
to Liverpool’s “City Of Culture” status in 2008.
Some 300,000 thousand revellers converged on the City to enjoy all the entertainment on offer.
Throughout
the year the John Colllins Funfairs can be found providing Funfair rides and attractions for all occasions,
another notable event is the celebrations to mark the Chinese New Year.
